Alpin Family Hotel Company Sees Big Operational Gains In First Few Months With Mews
The leading Austrian hotel company chose Mews to run its property portfolio because of its fast onboarding and operational timesaving.
Mews, the industry-leading hospitality cloud, has been chosen by Alpin Family to power their accommodation portfolio.
Alpin Family is a leading Austrian hotel company with over 20 entities and 550+ accommodations under their three brands: AvenidA, The House Collection and Alpin Rentals. After a successful pilot with Mews in 2022, they began onboarding additional properties in spring 2023 at a rate of three hotels every two to three weeks.
“We chose Mews because we need a cloud-based solution that works across multiple properties,” said Magdalena Mandl, Head of Marketing at Alpin Family. “We have a central office from which we operate our hotels, and now we have a clear overview and can action things like price requests centrally. We don’t have to switch from system to system.”
The group has already seen significant operational gains. Previously, all payments had to be manually charged, but now this process is automated through Mews Payments, as is card payment verification. The proportion of direct bookings has increased since introducing Mews Booking Engine, reducing the amount of commission given to OTAs.
“Alpin Family is a brilliant example of combining personal, family-inspired hospitality with modern hotel technology,” said Matt Welle, Mews CEO. “It’s great to see that even after just a few months, Mews is unlocking time savings for teams and better guest experiences.”
Guests are also benefiting from the move to Mews. Online check-in and onsite kiosk check-ins provide the option of a digital guest journey, which has led to cutting average check-in time by half. Additionally, front desk staff now have more time to engage with guests.
“You can see our team are now more relaxed because of Mews,” added Michaela Riedlsperger, Head of Reservations at Alpin Family. “Onboarding is also a lot less complicated for new staff. In the past, we needed staff to take time out of their day to train new starters, but now they can log in to Mews University and learn on their own.”
