Small Hotel Owners Keep Control as Automation Takes On Two in Three Rate Updates
At independent hotels under 100 rooms on Ampliphi, the share of rate updates sent automatically has nearly doubled since March, and every change stays within limits the owner sets
Independent hotels with fewer than 100 rooms are handing more of their daily pricing to automation. At small hotels on Ampliphi, the automated revenue management platform for independent hotels, two in three rate updates now go into the property management system automatically. That share was just over one in three in March, and every change stays within guardrails the owner sets.
Small hotels are the core of Ampliphi's customer base: nearly two in three hotels on the platform have fewer than 100 rooms. Nine in ten of these small hotels have used Ampliphi to push rate updates directly into their PMS.
Ampliphi launched automatic rate publishing in December 2025. Among small hotels, the share of rate updates sent without manual approval rose from 37% in March to 67% in August and 71% in September. The share rose in every month from June to September.
That shift is happening at scale. Every night, about 2,000 rooms are filled at hotels under 100 rooms on Ampliphi, about six times as many as a year ago. These hotels are mostly in the United States and Canada, with others in Australia, Mexico, Antigua, New Zealand and Belize.
Owners decide how much to hand over. Most start by reviewing and approving each rate update themselves, then switch on automatic publishing when they're ready. They set how far rates can move up or down, and which dates and room types the system leaves alone. Every automated change is recorded in a full audit trail and can be undone. Almost every hotel using automatic publishing still makes some rate changes by hand, using automation for the routine updates and stepping in when they know something the data doesn't.
Ampliphi monitors competitor rates and local demand, recommends prices, and pushes rate updates directly into the hotel's PMS. The platform integrates with 10 PMS and distribution platforms, with 10 more in development.
Shams Ayyub, CEO at Ampliphi, said: "Most small hotels don't have a revenue manager. The owner or GM is also handling the front desk, the staff and the guests, so rates get updated when there's time, not when the market moves. What we're seeing is owners handing that routine work to automation one step at a time, because they can see every change, set the limits and undo anything. Trust is earned, and small hotels are showing us how quickly it grows when they stay in control."
About the data
Figures come from Ampliphi's platform data as of September 30, 2026. A rate update is a completed rate publish sent to a hotel's PMS. It counts as automatic when Ampliphi's automatic publishing system sends it without manual approval. Small hotels are independent properties with fewer than 100 rooms.
