What do you like most?
Fosse works in a manner that simply works, it does nothing more. If there is anything that needs to be done, we can do it. However, in many cases you need to jump through hoops and really have to do things the long way. For example, when checking a block availability, we can't just search the block to auto populate availability of rooms. Instead we enter dates, hope the guest staying gives dates within the block and then guesstimate what room type the blocks has. This is fine, except when we are in a 90%+ occupancy hotel, the number of groups and events are abundant. Another example is that sometimes we can't search the functions, we can enter in some letters and press f1 but if we put too many, it sometimes just doesn't populate. Rather, it's best to just put one letter or know a group code by head. As a developer myself who now works at a mariott hotel, townplace suites, it is really redundant compared to more popular property management systems that are more affordable and productive in the long term. Especially with current covid related staffing issues. Another issue with fosse is how we need to really update things between marsha and fosse, this should be automated. Often times, things still don't sync up. What type of backend solution is really causing so much delay sometimes. There's so much fosse can do, but it's really menu heavy. There is no GUI. There is no simplicity. It reminds me of some retro computer system. The real problem is not fosse, it's the fact that there's everything else. So many better solutions, over 100 actually. The top 10 I can think of from the top of my head leads to better support, faster roi, better guest experience, and they are more popularly used so there has been a lot more consumer feedback implemented along with security patches.
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
Ease of use. More features. Guest-first productive interface. Less muscle memory and key-stroke intensive. At least have more accessible quick access hotkeys for complex functions and bulk functions within one command for updating all modules within this pms.
