ThinkReservations Launches Upgraded Booking Engine and Gift Certificate Experience for All Properties
Redesigned availability search, larger room galleries, translation support, and automated bot protection are now live network-wide — with no action required from property owners
ThinkReservations today announced that an upgraded booking engine and gift certificate purchase flow are now live for all properties on its platform. The release delivers a faster, more visual path from availability search to completed reservation, and brings every standalone booking engine in line with the functionality and security architecture of the company's ThinkWeb website platform.
The upgrade rolled out automatically. Property rates, availability, policies, photos, existing reservations, and account configuration are unchanged, and no setup or migration is required.
"Guests decide whether to book in a handful of moments, and most of those moments now happen on a phone," said E Scot Fuller, Director of Product Advocacy at ThinkReservations. "This release is about removing friction from every one of them — fewer steps to check availability, photography that actually gets to be seen, a registration page that doesn't feel like paperwork. And behind all of it, protection that stops fraudulent booking attempts before they ever become a reservation."
Six improvements, live now
Redesigned Check Availability widget — A clearer, faster entry point to the booking flow on any device, reducing the steps between entering dates and viewing available rooms.
A more visual mobile booking experience — Guests beginning a booking on a phone now see the property's Business Image at the start of the flow, and room photo sorting has been simplified.
Larger room images and an expanded gallery — Room photography is displayed at significantly larger sizes, with no limit on the number of images a property can upload per room.
A simplified registration page — The guest details page has been streamlined to reduce friction at the point of conversion.
Translation support — International guests can complete the entire booking process in their preferred language, from search through confirmation. Supported languages mirror those available on ThinkWeb.
Strengthened registration-page security — ThinkWeb's automated bot protection now runs on every standalone booking engine.
Fraud prevention before the transaction
The new bot protection operates at the registration page and is designed to stop fraudulent booking attempts before a reservation is created — and before card data is transmitted to the property's payment processor. Rather than flagging suspicious reservations for later review and cleanup, the system blocks them at the point of entry.
The protection is enabled by default for every property, with nothing to configure or monitor, and introduces no additional steps, verification prompts, or friction into the guest booking experience.
Gift certificates
The gift certificate purchase flow has been upgraded alongside the booking engine. Guests can now complete a purchase through a modernized, streamlined form built to be easier to finish — particularly for guests purchasing on behalf of someone else or buying from a mobile device. Gift certificate terms, values, and property-side handling are unchanged, and the flow carries the same security enhancements as the booking engine.
Context
Mobile is now the dominant booking surface for independent lodging. Across properties running ThinkReservations, 41% of booking-engine reservations were made on a mobile device between August 2025 and July 2026.¹ Several elements of this release — the redesigned availability widget, the mobile property image, and the larger galleries — target that surface directly.
Recommended next steps for properties
ThinkReservations recommends that property owners review their booking engine on a mobile device, consider updating the Business Image under Settings > Business Settings (landscape orientation is recommended), and expand room galleries to take advantage of the new display, with five to seven images per room suggested as a starting point.
Properties with questions or display issues can reach the ThinkReservations support team through the in-app support channel.
