What do you like most?
Roommaster works great and efficiently. Most aspects are straightforward which is nice and convenient. I wish you could pull up Electronic Processing Reports more than a week old; if I could pull up Electronic Processing Reports from previous months it would be greatly beneficial. I do enjoy the ease of checking people in. I noticed at other hotels, the process of checking someone in is time consuming. The longest it takes me to check someone in is usually 10 minutes (which is not bad). A lot of guests make compliments of how fast our check in process is. Also it is nice when RM blocks another user from opening a reservation if someone already has it open. That helps not create issues or errors in the system. Sometimes RM does lock someone on a reservation even though the employee isn’t logged on to the computer (glitch).
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
I wish the ‘help’ icon was more helpful. It seems that it needs to be updated because I will type in ‘Electronic Processing Reports” and the system doesn’t know what that means. Another issue that occurs is communicating with 3rd party reservations. We are not sure if it’s Expedia or RM but the virtual cards won’t be sent over into RM. It doesn’t happen all the time but it seems like the communication between RM and 3rd parties gets disrupted. Also, it would be nice if the “Change Journal” for reservations didn't update to a blank slate after checking someone in. I understand there is a back way of looking but it would be more efficient if the Change Journal for reservations didn't delete information after checking in the guest. It would also be nice to receive an email that RM updates, listing all the updates and fixes so we are all informed on the updated system. I do enjoy that we get reminders about an upcoming update because that helps Night Audit plan their shift better. The main aspect, I would like to see from these, is the electronic processing reports from more than a week old. Our computers crashed one day and we lost all of our files (we couldn’t pull up electronic processing reports from more than a week old).
