What do you like most?
Rate management on RoomPriceGenie is remarkably straightforward. A typical rate upload takes only seconds to complete, whereas with some alternative RMS platforms the same process can easily take 10 to 15 minutes for a standard morning rate update. When managing multiple properties, that difference quickly adds up and significantly reduces the amount of time spent on routine rate administration.
What I particularly like is the balance between automation and human intervention. In addition to fixed rate uploads and minimum/maximum price thresholds, RoomPriceGenie allows percentage-based overrides to sit on top of the system's recommendations. This means I can apply my own commercial judgement while still allowing the underlying price point to fluctuate and respond dynamically to changes in demand and the market.
The system also provides a very good level of transparency and control. It does not feel like a "black box" where I simply have to accept whatever rate the algorithm produces. I can quickly review the pricing direction, understand the factors (which shows the weighing of Market Trend, Occupancy and Manual Adjustments) behind it, make overrides where I feel they are commercially justified, and still allow the system to continue doing the heavy lifting.
Another feature I particularly value is Surge Protection. If the system detects an unusually concentrated level of bookings for a particular date within a short period, it can immediately flag the surge and, depending on the configuration, temporarily apply a protection price. This is especially useful when an unexpected event suddenly drives demand before either the revenue manager or the wider market has had time to react. It effectively creates a safety net against selling too much inventory too quickly at an undervalued rate, while still giving me the opportunity to review the situation and decide on the longer-term pricing strategy.
All of this becomes particularly valuable when managing a portfolio of properties. The time saved on routine rate management means I can spend considerably more time looking at pickup, booking pace, market movements and wider commercial strategy rather than manually uploading hundreds of individual rates.
Last but certainly not least, RoomPriceGenie's customer support is genuinely the best-in-class. Their live chat is actually handled by a real person rather than a chatbot, with a usual waiting time of less than a minute. When more specialist support is required, there is typically a one-to-one follow-up from the relevant project lead, rather than being passed into a generic support mailbox and waiting days for a response.
I also particularly appreciate their approach to unresolved cases. If an issue has not been formally closed, the support team will often proactively follow up to check whether any further assistance is required before closing the ticket.
More broadly, RoomPriceGenie feels like a product that is continuously being developed, with new upgrades and add-ons made available to the portal every so often. When we have questions, suggestions or more unusual requirements, the conversation can reach people who understand not only the technical side of the platform, but also the revenue-management logic behind it. That makes a considerable difference and gives me much more confidence in both the system and the team behind it.
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
Would appreciate more refined functionality around data extraction and reporting, particularly the ability to track the progression of ADR, revenue, occupancy and room nights over a defined period of time. For example, being able to compare today's position for a particular stay month against where it stood 7, 14 or 30 days ago would make pickup and pacing analysis considerably more powerful.
More granular reporting and yielding by room type, greater flexibility around custom exports, and a consolidated portfolio-level view would also be very useful for multi-property revenue management.
That said, these are predominantly reporting enhancements rather than limitations of the core pricing functionality, and the strengths of RoomPriceGenie easily outweigh them.
