What do you like most?
lots of features, reports are plentiful and robust, lots of data points to track stuff you dont really need to track just justify some bean counters job
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
Ok to start, I have to log in twice 90% of the time and 50% of those times it takes me to a secondary login page, where i can enter my user name again and without a password it logs me in. The other 50% of the time it logs me in and i am able to get to the first page where you can choose the hotel, click any link and im taken back to the login page. This is how my day starts off everyday. See how annoying that is. Hotel Key is by far the most bug ridden “software” that i have ever used, with a poor and unreliable bug tracking system. If you wanted to try and debug some of the interface features your self you would not be able to because their source code is a disgrace, and who ever works in the development branch should be ashamed of themselves. I have seen better hello world programs written by a 5 year old, they would have proper formatting and commenting. This looks like it was written by 100 monkeys smashing on a keyboard without a return key unable to use the comment function. That is only the start of the problems, because trying to get help thru zendesk is terrible and not to mention extremely insecure with documented vulnerabilities (https://www.pcgamer.com/fixed-chrome-extension-flaw-could-allow-hackers-to-record-both-your-webcam-and-desktop-feeds/) and known breaches. Hoelkey continued oversea-ing of tech jobs to india is a disgrace and fraught with security issues, india has one of the highest rates of scam centers and one of the lowest rates of prosecution or arrests. I guess this is a criticism of zen desk more so then hotel key but they made the discussion to ship jobs overseas just to save a buck. So back to hotel key then, the feature rich dash board is overwhelming and confusing, ready rooms are not actually available and there is no documentation available to tell me what a ready room actually is. The zen desk online help page has had there links broken for 4 months and it has been brought up by myself multiple times from various forms (calling, emailing, website form, which doesn't have a field for email or contact so no way to communicate back that the problem has been solved) , available rooms can be dirty, and when you ask tech support about this, they say you could mark it clean and sell it so whats the issue there is not a person in the room. Well if a customer went on to our website and booked a room based on the availability that the system says, then shows up i wouldn't have a room that they wanted. The Implementation was a disgrace, the roll out to our hotel included 0 training the limited zen desk documentation was broken before the hotel got the software, we did not get any virtual environments to try stuff on. There was no testing phase, the one good thing was that our implementation guru from hotel key made himself available for the night shift issues for the first couple weeks. There sorting of lists is random, when choosing a rate for a guest the first room has the daily rate first followed by discounted rates, the next type of room will have the discounted rates first and you will have to scroll down for the daily rate, on the public facing website it lists company rates when go to select a room. It lists house accounts from the first to the last day of the month so you have to scroll to the bottom to see current day transactions, with no way to switch this. On said accounts you are able to filter by transaction type (Debit, Credit) which actually means is the account being debited(charges to account) or credited(Payments), tax inclusive and exclusive rates are backwards, buttons sometimes work some times don't, tax exempt status of company rates are on and off. The list goes on and on with end in site. I would not recommend this cr’app to my worst enemy let alone an 'industry peer. How this cr’app has a 93% ratting on this site is beyond me. Update, still no help documentation other than a page they riped from the sales portion of their website. All of their "training modules" have gone missing and they have added buttons that don't work and have no documentation on said button. there report export function now exports in 8.26x11.7 inches which is a papersize from some universe far far away letter size is 8x11.5 globally.
