Promising direct bookings, but delivery fell far short

What do you like most?
Over-promised in the sales process, under-delivered in execution. The idea of one platform covering metasearch, paid search, retargeting and on-site messages to drive direct bookings is appealing on paper. I have worked with Triptease across several hotel groups over the years, which is why we chose them again for a 10-park holiday portfolio. Unfortunately, this time the delivery came nowhere close to the pitch.
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
Implementation errors that cost us money: their Paid Search team confirmed a keyword architecture error that sent searches for our main brand to the wrong park page for around two weeks, AI-generated sitelinks pointing to the wrong parks, and ads for one park landing on a broken page. They took "full accountability", but the budget was already spent. - Months without reliable data: Triptease admitted in writing that we had around three weeks of usable data across our first four months. Tracking only went live months after we signed. - Performance below what we were sold: their own team wrote that channel performance fell short of what was discussed during the sales process. More than three months after tracking went live, we saw no clear improvement on any metric, conversion or direct bookings, and ROAS remained extremely low across metasearch and paid search. - Slow support when it mattered: performance questions took two and a half weeks to get a full answer, in the middle of our peak season. The account manager also changed mid-contract. - No flexibility on exit: when we gave notice after months of documented problems, Triptease refused any early exit, insisted fees keep running for another five months, and told us we need their written consent to move these channels to another provider before the term ends. After a year of significant investment, that was the most disappointing part. Advice to other hoteliers: before signing, get written performance KPIs, a go-live deadline and an exit clause tied to them. Our contract had no performance or ROAS commitment, so all the risk sits with the hotel. Check the minimum term, the deposit and any clause preventing you from moving channels to another provider.
