What do you like most?
The platform has endless capability to manage labor at the most minute level; but is only as complex as you need it to be. It works equally well for our most limited-service properties and our full-service, large-staff properties. The capabilities of the system to plan, schedule, and analyze labor is quite astounding. Also, the platform has the ability to integrate with your ERP, PMS, etc to pull in the appropriate data to streamline forecasting and analysis. Unifocus on-site training is also great, the trainer is engaging and very helpful. The company is clearly invested in making the platform successful for every company - you aren't just buying a piece of software, you're getting the advantage of a entire team of consultants with decades of experience in the hospitality industry and advice about on-the-ground labor management. We have continued to engage Unifocus in training and change management efforts with both new properties and reinforced refresher learning, and it's money well-spent. Implementation went smoothly for us, and Unifocus met with each individual property to understand their way of managing and scheduling labor so they could individually configure the system. You never feel like they are pushing just a plug-n-play platform, even though for many properties, it was as easy as that and we had the bonus of recommendations and hotel-specific advice. They even met with different stakeholders, managers, and executives above-property and facilitated the best ways for our company to monitor and analyze performance at the enterprise level. They continue to help make observations and offer advice through meetings at the enterprise level so that we are utilizing the platform and ensuring that there is no question about the ROI.
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
Like any system with advanced capabilities, it depends on how complex you want to make it. The implementation period takes longer than much simpler systems, but it's worthwhile as the Unifocus team takes time to configure the system individually for each property. The in-the-moment help materials are great, but the initial online training could be improved... however this is eclipsed by the phenomenal on-site, in-person training that Unifocus conducts to really connect with the managers who use the system daily. Take advantage of the Unifocus trainers - they are fantastic.
