What do you like most?
My Hotel Effectiveness has been a great tool for managing labor and understanding how our hotel is performing. One of my favorite features is how clearly it shows our wins and losses based on actual data. Instead of just looking at labor numbers, we can see exactly where we are performing well and where we have opportunities to improve. This makes it easier to hold ourselves accountable, recognize successes, and make adjustments when needed. As a manager, having those numbers in one place helps me compare staffing decisions against what happened on property. It also gives me a way to talk with department leaders about performance because the conversations are supported by results, not just opinions. When we have a strong week, we can identify what worked and repeat it. When we miss a target, we know where to focus our attention next. I also appreciate how it helps us make smarter scheduling decisions and stay focused on labor efficiency without sacrificing guest service. Overall, it has been a very valuable tool for keeping labor costs under control and making informed operational decisions.
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
One area where My Hotel Effectiveness could improve is making the data a little easier to navigate and interpret. While the tool does a great job showing labor wins and losses, it would be helpful to have more detailed explanations of what is driving those results and specific recommendations for improvement. I would like to see simpler ways to compare weeks and departments side by side when business levels change. A visual summary of the biggest variances, along with notes about causes, could save managers time when reviewing reports. It would be helpful if the system made it easier to clearly distinguish between controllable labor issues and situations where staffing was necessary to support operations and maintain service standards. Having a clearer breakdown of labor trends and opportunities would make it even easier for managers to make adjustments and stay ahead of potential overages. Overall, it is a great tool, but a few improvements to the user experience and reporting features could make it even more effective.
