What do you like most?
I previously used this platform while working at TownePlace Suites, and overall it proved to be a highly efficient and effective tool, particularly for hotel operations. The system made it easy to schedule employees, monitor labor hours, and manage staffing needs across departments. While there were a few technological challenges during the initial setup of Transcendent, particularly in establishing certain system connections, the platform ultimately demonstrated strong long-term value and significantly streamlined daily operations. One of the key advantages of this software suite is the availability of multiple resources tailored to specific operational needs. There are dedicated tools for maintenance, scheduling and labor management, and budgeting, which allows each department to focus on what is most relevant to their responsibilities. The scheduling functionality, in particular, is very user-friendly. The option to copy schedules from previous weeks is extremely helpful, especially when employees maintain relatively consistent schedules. At the same time, the system offers full flexibility to manually input schedules each week, allowing managers to adjust hours as needed. In practice, we often copied the previous schedule and then modified it to reflect staffing changes for that specific week, which saved a significant amount of time. The ability to save hour templates is another valuable feature, as is the option to schedule shifts with or without designated breaks, such as a 30-minute lunch period. This level of detail makes labor tracking more precise. The system clearly displays allotted labor hours and updates in real time to show whether scheduled hours are remaining or if the schedule is going over budget. Additionally, the scheduling filters—such as filtering by employee or by department—are especially beneficial for properties with larger teams. Being able to view and schedule one department at a time prevents unnecessary scrolling and improves overall efficiency. For associates who work in multiple roles, the system visually distinguishes those shifts using different colors, making it easy to see whether an employee is scheduled for one role or another. Hotel Effectiveness offers a wide range of tools that are particularly useful for housekeeping scheduling. It allows managers to input hours based on the specific type of housekeeping work being performed, which helps ensure accuracy and proper labor allocation. ProfitSword is also a strong component of the system, providing effective tools for organizing budgets and allocating costs across different departments or cost centers, making financial oversight much more manageable. Although Transcendent experienced some initial setup challenges, particularly related to connectivity with GXP (a system used at our hotels), it has otherwise been extremely beneficial. Transcendent supports not only guest requests and reported issues but also scheduled work, preventive maintenance, and customizable rounds. For example, maintenance teams can complete daily walkthroughs or area-specific rounds, such as pool inspections. The use of barcodes significantly reduces the need for manual searching, and the system allows preventive maintenance tasks to be created, scheduled, and tracked with ease. Another strength of Transcendent is asset management. Assets can be built out with detailed information, such as room features (shower or tub type, number of beds, oven availability, etc.), allowing for more accurate tracking and maintenance records. The platform also maintains historical data, making it easy to identify recurring issues tied to specific assets. Additionally, vendor lists can be added, and existing data can be imported, which further enhances efficiency and organization. Overall, despite a few initial technical challenges, this system provides a robust set of tools that greatly improve scheduling, labor management, maintenance tracking, budgeting, and operational efficiency. It is a valuable platform that becomes increasingly beneficial over time and supports more streamlined and data-driven hotel operations.
What do you dislike or think could be improved?
The communication issues we had were with GXP to Transcendent however other than that it is a great resource. Additionally I like all the webinars and meeting to help users.
